My experience with data analysis is the result of over 10 years working with aviation and transportation data sources. This data takes many forms and I have experience using the following tools to create actionable insights:

Visualization Example

Being able to filter data quickly and compare a current day's  conditions to historical conditions is a problem faced in many areas. In aviation, the FAA's command center faced this same issue and I helped to solve it by leading a time and contributing to an interactive presentation of the data so that the probability of a given day's traffic management actions could be compared to those actions taken in the past.

Techniques explored include:

• Cumulative probability distributions

• Clustering analysis

• Regression analysis

Dashboard Design

Being able to assess the status of a current situation quickly and have easily understood analysis graphics is more and more essential in today's businesses. As a good communicator and someone who understands data as well as user behaviors, I am comfortable creating dashboards for different environments with the following principles in mind:

• Tufte design principles: small multiples, data layering, data density

• User experience

• Sound statistical representations

My motivation - aviation and beyond

A history of how I came to work in aviation and how it affects everything - from a small town, to global decisions.

But now, my role in aviation doesn’t just deal with how airplanes fly, but how they can be used. How to get family members to visit sick relatives, how to get business leaders to make important decisions on time, how to transport computers and important packages the next day. What we deal with in air traffic management is helping the country’s economy to move forward.
